Top of The World
In the 2006-2007 NBA season, the Boston Celtics had only won 24 games and they lost 58 games. They were in need of some help, so during the offseason, General Manager Danny Ainge was able to make two big trades that would eventually change the Celtics’ ways. What would it feel like to have a tremendous turnaround and become NBA champions in one season.
As soon as the Celtics acquired Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, everyone was picking them as the favorite to win the NBA championship. In the book I read called Top Of The World by Peter May, he journals what the Celtics went through to win an NBA championship.
In one season, an NBA team that went 24-58 in the previous season went on and won a championship by adding two superstars to please their own superstar, Paul Pierce. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen were the two the Celtics pursued to become great. In one season they were able to be a 66-win team, but it wasn’t just because of Garnett and Allen. There were also some very good players that they acquired before and during the season that came off the bench and were put into the games. That is like what my basketball team this year. We had new players this year and were able to win more games than we did last year. We also won the Consolation Championship for our league.
The Boston Celtics organization has 17 NBA Championships. The most recent was won in 2008. They hadn’t won any championships since the 1986 season. As many people know, it is not fun to be on a bad team and it gets old when that happens for many years. Paul Pierce experienced that feeling with the Celtics more than Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen did before coming to the Celtics. Both Allen and Garnett had some experience in the playoffs with good teams before joining the Celtics. However, none of them have had the success they had when all three of them were together. This is similar to what is currently happening today with the Miami Heat. This the first season that they have three very good players and it is the first season they have made it to the NBA Finals.
The motto for the Celtic championship season was “Ubuntu,” which basically means one for all and all for one. This motto led the Celtics to keep winning and winning. Although the Celtics were able to win the Championships in 2008, the closest they have been able to come to winning another championship was in 2010 when they made it to the NBA Finals, but eventually lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Today, the Celtics are a perennial playoff team and are especially good in the regular season. What would it feel like to keep winning and knowing you are a part of one of the best teams in the NBA.

History of Pudding
Food historians have all agreed that the first puddings that was made by ancient cooks were similar to sausage like foods. The British claim pudding as part of their cooking heritage. Medieval puddings black and white were still mostly meat-based. 17th century English puddings were either savory (meat-based) or sweet (flour, nuts & sugar) and were typically boiled in special pudding bags. The "pease porridge" from the old nursery rhyme was most likely a simple boiled pudding of pease meal.

24 Hours with Brandon Jennings
Hours 1-6:
Brandon Jennings is the Milwaukee Bucks point guard and he is currently in his off-season house out in Los Angeles, California. Brandon: “The first thing I do when I wake up is have my personal chef Peter make me a fruit smoothie and toasted peanut butter and jelly sandwich for a very healthy breakfast. Then I go for a work out at the gym to stay fit in the off-season so I am ready to get back and be ready to in shape for the workouts with my team.” Brandon: “Since the draft is so close the Bucks have chosen me to do a little two on two with Andrew Bogut against some possible draft prospects the Bucks would like to have on the team. All of the Bucks scouts are going to be there to see if they could improve the team in their first season and I think that could help us a lot. I heard that we are playing against Alec Burks and Donatas Motiejunas they both are pretty good and it would be fun to have either of them on the team.“
Hours 7-12:
Brandon: “The two guys did really well they made it competitive but with the NBA experience that we have we were able to beat them. The draft is only about 5 hours away and the Bucks haven’t yet made a decision who they will pick with the No. 10 pick but I think that Alec Burks showed that he is NBA ready.” Brandon: “I am just boarding the plane to get to New Jersey where the draft will be held the Bucks want me there to meet my new teammate after he gets drafted. Also in the Bucks second round pick will be announced by me. I feel very special to be doing that.” Brandon: “I have just arrived at the airport and with the passing through the time zones the draft is less 2 hours away. As I am arriving at the stadium a lot of the NBA players are there like most of my teammates, There is also a lot of fans I guess they are really like coming out here to see the future of their to be picked.” David Stern (Commissioner of the NBA): “With the Tenth pick in the 2011 NBA Draft the Milwaukee Bucks select Alec Burks guard Colorado.” Brandon: “Since Alec Burks was drafted I now have to go meet him. I think he could learn a lot for John Salmons in his first.” Brandon: “Alec told me that he is very happy to be playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and he hopes to learn a lot from everyone on the team.”
Hours 13-18:
Brandon: “With the 40th pick in the second round of the 2011 NBA the Milwaukee Bucks select Willie Reed Power Forward from St. Louis. That was a very neat experience to announce one of my possible teammates next year. While I was on the phone talking to him it sounds like he knows what he has to do and what he can improve on in the next few years.” Brandon: “After each of the Draft our team holds a team workout but that can’t happen this year because the league CBA has expired so we can’t practice as a team. This is what is happening now in the NFL. So maybe I get all the players on the team out to a nearby College or even the Bradley Center to have an all players practice.” Brandon: “So I got all the guys here we were going to go to the Bradley Center but that is closed for construction so instead we went to the U.S. Cellular Arena or otherwise known as the Mecca. I also got the team trainers and we had a nice 2 hour workout. I felt since I’m the leader on the floor I should become one off the floor too.”
Hours 19-24:
Brandon: “I just got off the phone with the events planner of the Milwaukee Brewers and they want me to throw an opening pitch at one of the games when they play the Dodgers. Since I’m a huge Dodger fan I’m going to where the Brewers jersey they give me with my Dodgers hat on.” Brandon: “The game was very good even though the Dodgers lost but after I threw the opening pitch the Brewers GM asked me if I wanted to play in the brewers Minor league system during the lockout he said the Jokingly. With The lockout in place I don’t have anything much to do anymore so I think I will watch some of my teammates play in Las Vegas in the Summer League. Or maybe I will see if I can go back to some over sea’s country and play Pro basketball there like I did a few years ago before the Bucks drafted me. I’m very popular there in Italy especially.” That’s a day in the life of Brandon Jennings

History of Ping Pong
Many people hold the wrong notion that table tennis originated in China, because the Chinese name ping pong is also used for the sport and because the Chinese dominate the game nowadays. However, ping pong was actually started by the upper class Victorian gentlemen in the 1880s in England, as an after dinner indoor relaxation, mimicking outdoor tennis. They used day-to-day objects, like using a line of books as the net, a knot of strings or a rounded top of a Champagne bottle cork as the ball and a cigar box lid as the racket. The name ‘ping pong’ was derived from the sound when the sport was played. That name was trademarked by an English table tennis equipment manufacturer, J. Jaques & Son Ltd. in 1901.

History of Shoes
Sandals were the most common footwear in most early civilizations. In Mesopotamia a type of soft shoes were worn by the mountain people who lived on the border of Iran. The soft shoe was made of wrap around leather. An aglet is a small plastic or fiber tube that binds the end of the shoelace to prevent fraying and to allow the lace to be passed through an eyelet or other opening. Aglet comes from the Latin word that means needle.
