Roger and Mrs. Jones

Author Note: This is a Character Analysis of Mrs. Jones and Roger in the story “Thank You Ma’am” by Langstin Hughes

Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones was a truth telling no nonsense woman who didn’t take anything from anybody. She knew right from wrong and good from bad and she could teach anyone the difference between them. In the story Yes Ma’am she was able to teach Roger a no good purse stealing hoodlum kid what was good and bad. Roger had tried to steal Mrs. Jones’s purse but she was able to knock him down and take him home. She knew right away what she was going to do, teach this kid a lesson on what the mistakes he had made trying to take something of hers so he could get something for him.

Roger grew up from a home where they had no food and his parents never taught him what he should and shouldn’t do. When he tried to steal Mrs. Jones’s bag he thought he was doing good so he could get the necessities that his family lacked at home. But Roger didn’t know who he was messing with the purse broke and Mrs. Jones knocked him on his back picked him up and started asking "What did you want to do it for?" Roger could only reply with what they both knew was a lie. He then was brought to by Mrs. Jones house which there he was taught good from bad for the first time.

In conclusion Roger learned a lot of lessons that will make him a better kid. Mrs. Jones probably went through the same thing that Roger did and that is why I think that Mrs. Jones was teaching from experience rather that common sense. That is why I think that Mrs. Jones was able to teach Roger because she went through the same thing.

Tip Off: How the 1984 Draft Changed Basketball Forever

The 1984 NBA draft is one of the most controversial in NBA history. The teams were suspected to be losing purposely to get the most prized prospects in the world. Who wouldn’t when 4 of the top 50 NBA players of All-Time were a part of it?  This book goes deep into the highlighted draft it started the Jordan era and the first parts of the best pick and roll team ever. It details the blunders made by the teams by letting Michael Jordan be drafted 3rd and the pick of constantly injured Sam Bowie. Tip-Off is the best book for those who didn’t get to experience it in person.

Dead Man

Authors Note: This is a retelling piece of Dead Man’s Path where I will explain what happened in the book and what I thought what the author’s purpose was.

Michael Obi was appointed as the new headmaster of the Nmuba School, he thought he could change this school into a top flight school. He was an arrogant hard working headmaster he changed the school in many ways and also harmed the village people around him by doing so by affecting the cultural being of the burial grounds. Michael was making the village better for years to come but he had no idea that that meant happiness for the village people, even after he had been told of the great deal that the burial ground meant to the people he flaunted them away by ignoring them and keeping the gardens in place.

Michael knew he was doing good for the village, but the elders weren’t pleased with the changes he had made to their village. He didn’t have any respect for their culture and decided that they were going to have to make a new path to use. When Michael told them that the next day he came to the school with damaged areas and he knew he had to change something about the school. Michael needed respect for the other culture for the school to be top flight he only had respect for what he thought.

Upcoming Events Magnififent 12

Author’s Note:  This is a predictive piece on what I think will happen next in the series of books for The Magnificent 12
What would you do if a three thousand year-old man named Grimluck appeared before you one day at school and said you were destined to be a magical hero that saves the world?  That’s what happed to Mack MacAvoy, a 12-year old boy that suffers from a serious case of mediumness – medium grades, medium looks, medium parents that barely notice him, tons of phobias, etc.  Grimluk tells Mack he will be the leader of the Magnificent 12, a magical group of people that would defend the world from evil beings such as the Pale Queen.
For the future books in the Magnificent 12 series, I predict that the remaining ten people around the world that will be found to complete the Magnificent 12 but during their journey, they will encounter various creatures that Princess Ereskigal will bring with her to try to defeat them in their quest to save the world.  I also predict the Magnificent 12 will eventually master the Vargran tongue, an ancient spell speaking language, in order to defeat the Pale Queen and her daughter, Princess Ereskigal.  Since Princess Ereskigal has twelve lives, The Magnificent 12 will have to kill her eleven more times in order for her to be permanently dead and no longer a threat and then they will be able to kill the Pale Queen.
In conclusion, I believe these events will happen because I feel that the storyline has similarities to the Harry Potter series where the main characters are chosen ones and over time master their magical talents and eventually defeat the evil beings that pose a threat to them.
